Justin was incredible! We were in and out within 45 minutes. He knew exactly what we were looking. I am very particular about things I already know I like (I was looking for my dad’s recliner because it’s so comfy and spacious) and he found something just like it only looking at a picture. We walked around a little bit after and while showing a couch to my mom, I sat in the recliner next to it and that was it . We had found my dad’s recliner right beside the couch.

We came in and shopped for a couch, and we ordered one for our daughter for her new college home. We had a tight deadline for moving in, but were told it would be before the deadline for move-in. A very NICE and PROFESSIONAL sales associate named Justin Riley helped with the selection and ordering process. He kept us up to date on the status of the sofa, and later, we learned the sofa would not make it in time, and it would be a few weeks after school started before we could have the sofa. We returned to the store, and Justin worked hard to find an alternative solution. We purchased another couch (larger and more $$$ at our option), and he worked with his boss and the delivery team to meet our original move-in deadline! He kept us updated with phone calls and emails throughout this process. We are extremely grateful for Justin's professionalism and for going out of his way to find a solution that could have been an easy NO. Usually, I'm sorry, unfortunately, we cannot help you, is all too common. His attention to detail and putting the customer first are appreciated and sincerely valued. We love the larger couch and it actually fit our room and needs better than the original one we ordered. Well done, Justin!!!! We will be back to see you!

“Jesters Instead of Service” I came in trying to find a king bed for my King in Training—and was met with jesters. My teenage son and I visited Ashley Furniture looking to price out a full king bed setup—frame, pillow top mattress, and delivery. What we got instead was a circus of inflated egos, breadcrumb pricing, and invasive questions. One asked, “What do you do?” multiple times—even after I clearly said, “That’s confidential.” Another kept pushing vague monthly payment numbers without ever offering a full total. When I pressed for an itemized quote, I was met with dodges, deflections, and more ego. Asking for my personal information —all without delivering a price. They quoted $4,400—for a setup that started with a $1,200 bed frame. No clarity. No respect. No professionalism. Instead, what I witnessed was the full weight of misogyny and assumption, rooted in tired, harmful tropes: That a Black woman is always struggling That her son must be fatherless That urgency and financial desperation are givens That I wouldn’t know better, or challenge their performance The so-called manager tried to steer me toward monthly payments without even giving me the actual total. But I knew better. I challenged it. And my son saw it all. He watched his mama hold composure, set boundaries, and call out games in real-time. And he was the one who said, “Mom, let’s go.” Because he recognized what I’ve taught him: We don’t stay where we aren’t seen. We don’t perform for crumbs. And we don’t reward spaces that disrespect Black women and their children. We gathered our dignity. We left the store. Ashley Furniture—you need to do better. And Black men in sales: your misogyny is not charisma. It’s harm. Because we don’t build thrones with people who perform instead of serve. (Update June 27, 2025) If I could give zero stars, I would—but this one star is carrying the weight of a FULL TESTIMONY. Thank you for confirming exactly what I experienced in-store—performance over accountability. Your response is just more of the same: polished optics, no acknowledgment of the misogyny, no apology for the invasive questions, no responsibility for the dehumanizing assumptions made about me and my son. Just an attempt to “turn this into a 5-star review.” That tells me everything I need to know. No ownership. No integrity. No real repair. Just an attempt at damage control. Protecting your image and erasing our harm. It’s no wonder your staff feel entitled to act the way they did—because this response models it. I didn’t ask for a discount. I didn’t ask for a call. I asked for transparency, respect, and dignity—and I didn’t get it. So let me be clear: I’m not looking to be “won over.” I’m not emailing anyone. And I’m not editing this review to make your store look better. Have the day—and the 1-star review—that your company culture has earned. (Final Note) 🎤 This review is more than feedback. It’s a corrective narrative—for every Black mother who’s ever walked into a store and been seen through the lens of a stereotype or a trope—even by Black men. That’s the hurt of the African diaspora: when the very people we pour into, protect, and pray for, mirror back the world’s erasure. I was not lost. I was not broke. I was not desperate. I was discerning. I was browsing. And I was raising a King—in full view of men who looked like him but couldn’t see him. Or me. 🎤

My Wife and I made our 1st ever trip to an Ashley furniture store. We went to the Tuscaloosa, AL store met a salesman when we walked in who had such a great personality and super knowledgeable . We were looking for 2 recliners and thought we knew what we wanted. We were so glad to have met and been helped by Patrick Gann. He helped us find our best deal. We had come to look for 2 Recliners. He was also able to show us a Love seat with a pull out Bed My wife wanted. All this and more he also was able to keep the price so close to our budget.

My first time to shop this store. We had looked online and thought we had some recliners picked out. Salesman Patrick Gunn met us as we walked into store. The store seemed very large and had much more selection than we expected. I think we were somewhat overwhelmed with all the recliner choices. After asking us a few questions Patrick showed us what he thought would be something we would want He was right on and we purchased 2 Recliners.. He was very knowable on the model we bought. He even showed us the frame and motor and explained the steel frame was made from Rail Road steel. He got with the financial lady and got us the best deal he could. He did great. We purchased a few more items but only because he was helping us find something in our budget.we were so very happy with our time at Ashley

I had a very pleasant experience at Ashley Furniture with Krystal. She was nice and patient with me and was extremely knowledgeable.

I purchased a headboard for my mom. I put in her name so she wouldn't have an issue with it later, being in my name. My parents fell ill, and my mom later passed. In the meantime, I was unable to pick up headboard. I call after mom's passing to pick up and I was told it had been returned to stock and I had a credit to use in store. The original headboard had been discontinued. I have looked and shopped several times with nothing suiting my needs. I asked for a refund. The first customer care accused me of fraud for trying to use a deceased person's credit. I spoke to her manager, who said I was unable to get a refund because I was charged a restock fee of the amount of my credit. I called the Tuscaloosa manager, where the purchase was made. I was told the manager is J.R. I have left my info 3 times with no call back. I don't feel this is good business or customer service. Buyer beware....

I never bought in store for ashley funiture, but the online side absolutely sucks and if I could give 0 stars I would most definitely. They delivered my baby crib very damaged. I have called, called, called since day 1. Now it is day 45 and I still haven't gotten not one email on a refund period. I been requested a full refund. I've talked to 10 different people within these 45 days and no one will help u at all. No one has 200 to just throw down the drain. I will never recommend. Please take your services elsewhere

My first experience was with Christina, and she tried her best to get me what I wanted. Although, the items were discontinued, she stayed in contact with me as I browsed the internet for other items. However, Christina was off on my second visit, and Krystal was an angel to work with. Another piece that I saw online was discontinued, yet it was not showing out of stock or discontinued on the website. Krystal found me a comparable sectional and got me approved for a higher credit limit. Both ladies were professional and super helpful throughout my search process. Loved my experience at Ashley's Furniture. I walked in after my experience at Royals, which was a complete failure. As soon as I walked into Ashley's, I was greeted softly and professionally, and there was no rush, just professional treatment. I walked out with a complete 5 piece living room set plus a rocking chair, which I paid cash. Thank you Ashley's and by the way, my roommate also bought himself an overstuffed chair, so Ashley's made a good profit of over $2,000 in less than 2 hours. I'll be back very soon as I need a dining room set along with a wide TV stand for my living room. Honestly this will be my go to choice for all my furnishings from now on, oh and do you have any locations in Houston Texas?

Saturday, February 22, 2025, I visited the store referenced above to purchase a bedroom suit. After shopping around, I located a bed. Justin gathered personal informed from me and the numbers were ran. When the sales manager came back, he presented me with two quotes: one of the quotes included the bedroom suite only and the other included the bedroom suit, pillows and protection/warranty coverage. I explained that I did not need the warranty coverage nor pillows and was told I would save money and would be eligible for a bigger discount IF I purchased the bedroom suit, pillows and warranty coverage. as the price included those two items. It was then explained that if I removed those two items, my price would increase. Everyone's goal is to save - so of course, I took the lesser option. Once everything was signed, etc. Justin informed me that I would be able to take the pillows home with me that day. Prior to leaving, Justin executed a "bill out" and I was provided the pillows and went on about my day. On February, 27, 2025, I texted Justin personal cell number and inquire about the return process and never received a response. On February 28, 2025, I contacted the store and spoke with an unidentified female who later transferred the call to Kenny, a sales manager. I explained my issue to Kenny and was informed that the two pillows would remain of my account as they were nonrefundable. I later called back and asked to speak with the store manager and Kenny informed me that he was not in at the moment. I then asked Kenny what was his name and when was he expected to return to the store and Kenny informed me that his name was JR, that he would return on tomorrow, Saturday, February 29 and that he would not be able to help. I feel as if this "Manager Special" that is offered to customers is somewhat deception. In the end, you don't save much - if anything at all. I came into the store for a bedroom set and bedroom set only. I did not want the protection/warrant coverage and pillow and would not have purchased either if it was not presented that I would save more including them. I don't feel that it is right to tell customer if they don't get this - their price will go up. Prior to coming into the store, I researched the reviews; one would think that everyone's experience is different; It appears as if everyone's experience at this location is the same. This location most definitely aligns with the low rated and bad reviews provided by customers on Google. As of 4/23/25, this matter has nor been resolved. Two months ago, I emailed the store owner using the email address provided to other customers who left reviews and haven't heard anything. Overall, this store lacks customer service and professional skills.

We received excellent, friendly service from Patrick Gunn at the Skyland Boulevard store today as we purchased furniture. We are very pleased.

We walked in and were greeted immediately by Meagan! She gathered more insight of what we were looking for to make the process seamless! While we browsed she checked in every so often to see if we had any questions or concerns, as there were a few signs on the floor that we had questions about! Overall, Meagan made our first time experience at Ashley Furniture smoother than we could imagined! Will surely be back soon for my future furniture needs!

Fred was an absolute pleasure to work with. He had our backs start to finish and worked to get us a fantastic price on our whole order. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Update: While the initial interaction at this store was great, the lack of communication about our purchase is less than satisfactory. We were told we would be updated weekly about the whereabouts of our order. Here it is, two weeks past the promised delivery date and we have had to call and ask the questions. Definitely will not be purchasing from this store again. Justin was so helpful and nice! Answered all our questions.
