I have been a customer of Ashley and City Furniture for 15 years and this experience will keep me from ever purchasing here again. Upon purchasing, their customer service seems great but this sales person we worked with wound up being horrible with customer service and the “manager” we worked with, Usha, I would be embarrassed to have her working for my organization. In May, we ordered over $5000 worth of furniture of which about $2700 (a bedroom set) was on back order until end of September. We fully expected this with the Covid situation. Our salesperson Samir (Sam) Alkishawi told us if we changed our mind when we got home, or any time before delivery, to just let him know. We got home that day and attempted to call as we wanted to change to another set that would be in by end of August instead of end of September. Nobody answers the phone. So we emailed Sam and after 3 days, emailed again at which point he replied and edited our order (this took two days). He also canceled an in-stock item (a desk) that we wound up having to reorder again and we were supposed to be credited for the delivery fee of this item as it was supposed to come with two beds that were delivered. On 8/23, we were notified that the furniture was in but they couldn’t deliver until we paid money owed that nobody could clarify for us. Told us we needed to get in touch with our salesperson. First of all, trying to call the store is a waste. The phone rings about 25 times never to be answered, ever. Just disconnects. So we took ourselves personally into the store to speak with Sam. He stands with us to explain the bill. Ok we see, they didn’t credit us for the delivery fee on the desk. He fixes this. We tell him to cancel one of the pieces that we no longer need. Then we show him that the nightstands are on sale for $309.99 today versus the $389.99 we paid. He then gets a page that a customer is up front. He said he would be right back. After 20 minutes a salesperson named Leonardo Mesa comes to where we are standing and asks if he can help us. I explain what was happening and he helps us through everything after he pages for a manager twice which gets ignored. Problem is he needs a manager to override the price. Finally this manager Usha comes over and tells him he needs to create as a new order. Except now the new order has us paying $119.99 for delivery on the two nightstands in addition to the $89.99 delivery we are paying on the bedroom furniture. So I explained it didn’t make sense and she starts explaining to me that I have to spend $5k to get a discount on delivery. This is where I lost it. I told her to figure it out or cancel the entire balance of the order. She said oh well I’ll just credit the $119.99 - which is all I wanted her to do before I lost my cool. She then said “see no reason for you to get so upset” and then laughs at me. She also could care less that Sam left us the entire time we were there trying to work through this (an hour by the time we left). I also told her the ladies room was filthy (which it was) and she argued with me saying she used it and it was fine. For the record - there was no soap in any of the in sink dispensers but a giant soap refill that’s supposed to be on the wall sitting on the sink top but no way to really use it since it wasn’t in a dispenser. The first toilet had toilet paper all over the floor and the dispenser was wide open, the plastic “iPad” holder was smeared with god knows what. Filthy during a covid outbreak. Anyway I only bring this up as it’s a reflection of the poor management here. If you decide to torture yourself here, do yourself a favor and ask for Leonardo Mesa. Personally, I’ll shop at Baers or Havertys in the future.
