First and foremost it was refreshing to be able to wander through the store without being bombarded by sales people. When we decided on a couch and inquired about getting it in another color we were lucky to have, Patience, assist us. She was able to show us another piece that came in the color we wanted and it was exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be returning for a recliner or two in the near future and will definitely seek, Patience out to help us.

To: Mr. Parrott, Owner Ashley Furniture – New Bern, NC Subject: Recognition of Outstanding Sales Leadership and Request for Delivery Fee Reimbursement By way of introduction, I am the retired Deputy Commander of the United States Marine Corps Depots. Over a career spanning more than five decades, I have led senior military and government leaders and worked with countless professionals across industries where ethics, accountability, and execution matter. I am writing to you because I was informed through friends and fellow business owners here in New Bern, that you are the owner of the Ashley Furniture stores in New Bern and James City. Based on that, I wanted to ensure this feedback reached you directly. First and foremost, I want to recognize and commend Tim, the Sales Manager at your New Bern store. His professionalism, positive attitude, and ethical approach were exceptional and deserve formal recognition. Tim did not simply “sell” furniture but he educated my wife and I. He took the time to clearly explain Ashley’s policies, the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction, and how Ashley stands behind its products. His transparency, integrity, and calm professionalism were refreshing and deeply credible. In my experience, Tim ranks among the top five sales or customer-facing professionals I have worked with in my lifetime. Ashley should do more than simply acknowledge Tim’s performance. Leaders of this caliber should be recognized and, frankly, promoted. He is precisely the type of professional who builds long-term customer loyalty and brand trust. Because of Tim, I am now an Ashley customer for life. I will also personally ensure that my military colleagues, friends, and business associates know that Ashley Furniture in New Bern and James City are the stores to patronize, and that when visiting the New Bern location, Tim is the person they should ask to speak with. Regarding delivery: I want to be very clear that the delivery personnel themselves were courteous and professional. The issues I experienced were not their fault. However, it was evident they had not been properly trained on the installation of this particular sectional. After delivery, the sectional was misaligned and not operating as advertised. The delivery folks and I have attached a pic of that. They also noted it on their delivery paperwork before I signed. Upon inspection, I discovered a pinched wire (second pic) and missed locking tab on the original pieces, that were causing the issue and misalignment. At 67 years old, with a bad shoulder, I was required to completely disassemble the sectional, unwrap and correct the pinched wire, align pins properly, and then reassemble the entire unit myself. The good news is that once corrected, the sectional now looks great and operates exactly as advertised. I have pics of that too. That said, because I personally had to perform work that should have been completed during delivery and installation, I am respectfully requesting reimbursement of the $180.00 delivery and installation fee. I believe this is a reasonable request given the circumstances and the physical effort required to correct the issue. In closing, I want to emphasize that my overall experience with Ashley, due almost entirely to Tim’s leadership and professionalism, was extremely positive. With improved delivery training and recognition of your top performers, Ashley New Bern will continue to set the standard for customer service in this community. I’d give zero stars if I could. We went in at 9:34 on Saturday morning. Door was wide open. We got near the back, looking at dining tables as I was buying one for my wife for Christmas(plus other things). A young boy with glasses came up to us and asked us if we needed help. I said, no we are looking and I’ll let you know if I find something I want. He then proceeded to tell us they weren’t open yet, and that we needed to leave, that they were in a meeting. I said oh sorry, I thought since the door was open you are open. He started to get really smart with an attitude, and I said, well I guess we can go get a table somewhere else. He said, yes it’s best you do that. I was stunned. We used to live in a world where the customer was right and the customer mattered. This place obviously does not need customers. Cause they sure lost 2 yesterday that was looking for a leather couch, dining table, entertainment center, end tables, and a bed. Oh well. 😂

I was looking for a leather sofa. The point I want to make no one greeted or had anything to say to me nor my nephew. I saw two associates having a fun conversation one was behind the counter the other stood on the other side. The other two associates were busy with customers. Even if I saw something I loved I would look elsewhere NOT to purchase at ASHLEY..

Friendly and efficient

I shopped at the New Bern Ashley Store. Patience helped me on my first visit. She was knowledgeable about what was in her store & the manufacturers. I returned a couple of days later to make my purchase. Unfortunately, Patience was sick that day. The manager stepped up & helped me with my selection. Danielle at the customer service desk was also very helpful in completing my purchase.

I would shop else where for your furniture. We purchased a large sectional couch and two bedroom sets. Our sectional couch arrived with stains and every piece of our bedroom furniture has broken drawers with the exception of the floor model bedroom set (which they do a good job with so you think their furniture is decent). The original furniture delivery was on July 31st. The pieces that they sent for replacement were incorrect so when the gentlemen came to fix the furniture he couldn't even repair them. It's now Sept 10th the new pieces just came in and they tell you it will be another 72 hours before someone calls to set up an appointment for the repair which will also be a wait. Spent 9k with Ashley and still don't have a functional bedroom. Extremely disappointed with their service and I would never use them again.

Patience is awesome! Made our experience pleasant, and getting our new furniture for our new home, very easy and unpressured!!!! Recommend going to see Patience if you need any furniture!!!!!

He took the time to let me try out new mattress sets again with no pressure to get me to purchase a more expensive mattress. I will return to this store and make future purchases from John. I was happy the moment I walked in, the big opening was fun and I felt like a kid! Everyone was super nice and helpful. I left a one star review only due to not receiving the color we initially spoke about and I was highly upset when I saw chocolate colors in my living room. If you like chocolate that’s okay, it’s beautiful but that color was just too dark which is why in store I specifically asked for fossil, I love light colors. While there was some kind of miscommunication Ashley Furniture is making it right and we are swapping for the colors we initially wanted. I am so thrilled. We literally walked in for a recliner, but the moment I sat on the couch I fell in love! We purchased recliner that day along with a love seat, couch and two purple pillows. I recommend going in and checking them out, especially the mattresses. A new mattress is definitely on our list for next time.
