Walking through the door, my wife and I were immediately greeted, which was nice. However, I am glad we knew why we were there and what we wanted because the greeter very quickly became like a used car salesman and attached himself to us. He was not rude, but invasive of our space. I understand employees may work off commission, but personal greed should not come at the cost of the customer the moment we walk through the door. Steer the conversation towards the sale as opposed to latching on to walking dollar signs. He took us to the dresser we mentioned and before we could say anything else about it or have a conversation amongst ourselves to make sure that's what we wanted after seeing it in person, he was pushy on the cost. It was "lets do this right now. Pull up the price online and I will beat it" - immediately steered towards money. We pull the dresser up online, and he automatically dropped it by 20%, which I am incredibly thankful for, but now I'm rushed into decision making before a personal discussion. We agree and I ask if there is any military or first responder discounts I could add to it. I was told I could, but it was only 5% so my choices were 5% or his 20% again, feeling very much like a used car salesman. Over furniture. As he writes up the estimate he asks if we'd like to make payments, which I responded "no, I'm buying it outright". The kindness dissipated, the friendly mood changed and the persona I am now dealing with is professional (never rude) and short. I review the estimate and ask to remove the near $200 delivery fee which was met with an "ok" instead of a conversation that I now had to force word by word. To me it came off as I messed up your commission and now the attitude reflects. The conversation is as follows: "Can I remove home delivery?" "Ok." "Do I pick it up from here?" "No." "Where do I get it from?" "It's in our warehouse, not here." "Where is your warehouse?" "Spring" "When can I get it." "Saturday" "I can do that." I turn to my wife and use the same humor he used prior and said "$200 delivery or $40" gas while making a weighing gesture with my hands. We go to make the payment at this time, and while he's processing everything, he informs me It will be on Tuesday instead, which I replied I could also do. He takes my payment and writes the address on the receipt. He remains kind, but short, saying thank you, call for any questions and thank for shopping with him. I don't like the feeling of being preyed on, I do not vulture-like people, and I am buying furniture. Not a car. Thank you for the professional atmosphere and thank you for being courteous. Your furniture is beautiful and thus far sturdy. My Wife and I are very happy. Please do not treat your customers like walking dollar signs. Thank-you. P.s If you're going automated text customers over experiences, be prepared for honesty.
