We went to Ashley Furniture in Orem to buy some couches. What we didn't know was that we were about to witness an event so dramatic it could have been the opening scene of a summer blockbuster. Everything was normal. We were shopping. Our 13-year-old was looking around the showroom. Dusty was doing what Dusty does best—helping us find furniture. And then… TIME. STOPPED. There was a sound. A creak. A shift. We turned. The furniture display behind our daughter was moving. At first, just an inch. Then another. Then suddenly… THE ENTIRE DISPLAY STARTED COLLAPSING. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Our daughter turned around. Her eyes widened. We screamed. Someone dropped a throw pillow. A recliner somewhere in the showroom ominously began moving backward. And Dusty? Dusty saw everything. There was no hesitation. No fear. No second-guessing. He took off. Dusty sprinted across the showroom like a man who had spent his entire life training for exactly this moment. The display was coming down. Our daughter was directly in its path. Dusty launched himself forward. HE FLEW. For one brief, glorious moment, Dusty was completely airborne. He reached our daughter just as the display came crashing down. He grabbed her. He spun. He shielded her from the falling furniture. And somehow—SOMEHOW—he got her to safety. The showroom went silent. Dusty slowly stood up. Our daughter was safe. We were speechless. A nearby employee stared in disbelief. Someone whispered, “Did that just happen?” Dusty looked at us. He calmly brushed himself off. And said: “So… are you still thinking about the sectional?” THAT is customer service. We walked into Ashley Furniture looking for couches. We walked out knowing that Dusty isn't merely a furniture salesman. He's a guardian. A protector. A hero. A man willing to risk EVERYTHING for a 13-year-old girl who was simply trying to look at furniture. Honestly, Ashley Furniture may want to consider changing his job title.
