I purchased a recliner loveseat that was on clearance at Ashley Furniture in Richfield today. It will not be delivered for 10 days, so I can only speak about the purchasing aspect at this point. It was frustrating at best. I should have walked out of the store right away rather than endure over an hour of poor customer service due to Ashley's systems issues and policies exacerbated by a poorly trained and/or unprofessional salesperson. My primary credit card was recently hacked and the card services provider issued a new card that was mailed to me this week. The good news is that the card was updated in my Google wallet and I was able to make point of sale purchases using tap-to-pay with no problems - until I tried to buy the loveseat at Ashley. Ashley has a protocol in place that requires inputting the credit card expiration month and year. This is an internal Ashley Furniture system that is separate from the credit card processing. So even though my tap-to-pay was functioning, Ashley's system requires the expiration date info be entered separately. Because my credit card provider would not disclose the expiration date information for security purposes, the salesperson looked ready to ask me to use a different credit card. I wanted to use my card of choice, so after waiting a while the salesperson asked the customer finance person if they could access the expiration date information. Eventually, the finance person said that they could access the expiration date information, and they started processing my order. I waited for someone to ask me for my address and contact information because when the salesperson said that he found my account in their computer system - the salesperson said that Ashley had acquired Colder's and I was in the Colder's system. I told the salesperson that I had moved since my Colder's purchase. Though acknowledged, this important piece of information should have raised red flags right away. After the order was processed, the salesperson asked to confirm my email address, which was wrong in their system. Next he recited a phone number that was not mine, now or at any point in the past. At that point, the salesperson realized they had entered my order into the wrong customer account so they had to make calls to reverse the order on the wrong account and resubmit the order correctly. At this point, the salesperson started trying to be funny, which I did not appreciate after more than an hour of growing frustration. I hope that the furniture purchase is worth all the frustration I endured trying to make a simple purchase. Ashley Furniture and the salesperson should have done a lot better! Great customer service. Kelly showed us the beds and got us set up with pillows to try and then let us try everything out at our own pace. No high pressure, she would check in on us to see if we had questions but let us look on our own. We had a great experience and look forward to getting our new bed.
