I recently purchased two couches from this store and have had nonstop issues since. We bought the first set of couches back in October, and they arrived a month later. We paid extra for delivery, but to our surprise, the "white glove delivery" involved the company tossing the couches on their side in the back of the truck, opened and not in a box. When the delivery guys brought the couches, they informed us that the power recliner controllers were smashed in and the controller cap on the other side was not secure. They told us they had reported the damage to the warehouse as they noticed it before delivering it to us, but nobody informed us until after the delivery. We were assured there would be no issues with returning or replacing the couches despite the damage, and we could keep the couches as a "loaner" until we got new ones. Ashley has a reputation online for being cheap quality, but we ignored that because we had a positive experience with another couch from them. While sitting on the couches, one of the recliners easily fell down, offering no resistance, so that was also broken. On the other couch, the back had protruding pieces into my back, which the store acknowledged was likely from a bent frame during shipment. Trying to be reasonable, we decided to work with Ashley to get new furniture sent out. We were worried that while the current couches arrived damaged, the poor quality would persist if the same couches were delivered. We were told to come into the store to test out couches and see what we wanted. We found the couch we had been searching for online and were told it would be a $400 upgrade. Since this couch was more comfortable, we didn't mind paying, but we suggested returning the protection plan since it seemed Ashley does not care about their customers, and I had read horror stories of them not honoring their protection plan. I was then told by one of the employees that there would be a restocking fee if I returned the protection plan. When I asked what was needed to restock a service, I was told it was due to the "effort required," which is quite odd because they literally had to go through the same effort to fix the issue with the first couch. Furthermore, I read the terms and conditions of the protection plan, and it states that you can return the plan in full within the first however many days of receiving the couch. They pointed to a different document for the couches that does not apply to the service. Regardless, we told them we would pay the additional money as long as the next couch was delivered in boxes and was not damaged. We were assured they would be fine since they arrive in parts and are put together upon arrival. We were also told it would take a month for delivery, but we were later informed that this would extend into January, delaying the delivery further. On the day the couches were delivered, they were once again not in boxes and were set on the snowy ground outside. Once again, the delivery personnel informed me that this is how they were received that morning. They brought everything inside and mostly set everything up but did not finish, and I had to finish setting the couches up on my own (they didn't lock in one side or move it to the proper location). Upon inspecting the couch, there was a scuff on the side and some loose threads, likely from transport and rubbing against other items. The feet were also scuffed from being set on the ground outside, and there were miscellaneous wood chips and markings that we had to clean off. While this couch is more comfortable than the last one, we paid so much money and went through so much hassle for the store to carelessly deliver the couches twice, resulting in damage each time. I also reached out to the store a week ago and have not heard back since. I do not want to deal with Ashley again and now have to deal with marks on our $2k+ couch that seem completely avoidable if they were transported properly.
